Style/Period/Movement: 1930s Physical Description:Pink and White alternating blocks with four different nursery rhymes embroidered on the white blocks. There are 28 squares. Pink border. Leaf and circle pattern quilted in the pink block. Nursery Rhymes are: Little Tommy Tucker Sings for his Supper, See Saw Margery Daw, Little Bo-Beep Has Lost Her Sheep, Goosey, Goosey Gander. Exhibition History: Rothman Gallery Spring 1994. Collection or Donor:Collections or Donor: From the Robert L. Schaeffer Jr. Collection donated to the college in 1987. It is said that Schaeffer (American 1918-2001) , an avid collector of American folk art, often crossed paths with the Duponts. The collection largely represents a narrow geographic region consisting of Pennsylvania German objects and was accumulated over four decades. The donor states that he purchased this quilt form Hattie Brunner (American1890-1982). Hattie Brunner from Reinholds, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania was a folk art painter as well as one of the first antique dealers in Pennsylvania German Folk Art.
