Art in Translation: An Exploration of the Mediating Role of Art in Conflict
MetadataShow full item record
Drawing from seemingly disconnected fields of study, this paper seeks to uncover the reasons for art’s effectiveness. By demonstrating why art works, this justifies its use in situations of conflict. As it does this, it brings together politics, artistry, and theory to unearth the commonalities between their writings on art, and to advocate for a holistic approach to theory construction. That said, this paper represents a snapshot of a continuous process of intellectual exploration and connection building across fields of study. It is not meant to be entirely comprehensive, or inflexible to further development.
