This research project focuses upon the work of two area theatre companies during their fall 2013 production season: “We Are Proud to Present” by InterAct Theatre Company in Philadelphia and “Emancipation Sweet” by Theatre for Transformation in Lancaster. The ethnographic research intends to provide exploration and insight into the ways these theatre companies negotiate contemporary social realities through the performance of fictionalized historical narratives.
